Hill of Three Crosses (Entrance from T. Kosčiuskos g.)

We start our best viewpoints in Vilnius guide from this excellent point. With the Vilnia River right at your feet, you’ll find this spot to be excellent for looking down on the Cathedral and Vilnius’ many churches. This is a public space that’s part of Kalnų Park. You can visit whenever you like and capture the soft colors of the sunrise, as well as lights shining at night.

Altana Hill (Subačiaus g.)

One of the highest hills in Vilnius is well-hidden in the independent republic of Užupis, but once you find it, the view it offers is spectacular. There’s not much climbing involved if you go to the Užupis Gymnasium and take the stairs and path behind it. You’ll have a perfect view of Gediminas’ Tower and the typical golden sunsets of Vilnius.

Tauras Hill (V. Mykolaičio-Putino g. 5)

Also known as Devil’s Hill or Ghost Hill. Tauras Hill is where Baltic religious holidays were celebrated a long time ago. The panoramic view atop the hill is truly enchanting. Climb the stairs that go up from Pamėnkalnio Street and soak in the view of Vilnius’ old and new architecture. The TV Tower, the district of Žvėrynas and the high-rises in the new city center are all visible from here.

The Best Viewpoints in Vilnius

Gediminas’ Tower (Arsenalo g. 5)

Gediminas’ Tower marks the spot where the Vilnius Upper Castle once stood. While the tower is not nearly as grand as the castle was, it still holds a special place in the hearts of locals and is a popular tourist spot, too. If you happen to be here at sunset, stand on the side of the hill facing the Neris River – you’ll get a good view of Vilnius’ skyscrapers.

Bell Tower of St. John’s Church (Šv. Jono g. 12)

Unlike most other lookout points in the city, the Bell Tower of St. John’s Church is located right in the heart of the Old Town. There’s an entrance fee, but the view makes that and the climb to the top well worth it. Vilnius’ classic red rooftops will look like they’re almost within reach from here.

Vilnius Cathedral Bell Tower (Šventaragio g.)

One of the tallest towers in the Old Town offers great views of the nearby square and Gediminas Avenue, as well as Vilnius’ historic centre. Tickets can be purchased on the spot and give you access to the viewing deck, bell exposition, and a short historical tour.

The bastion of Vilnius city wall or the hill behind it (Bokšto g. 20)

It is believed that the bastion was built in the 17th century as part of Vilnius’ defensive wall, which protected the town from enemies from the east. This is a great spot to see the Old Town’s church spires. It is also convenient to drop in here after a walk around Užupis district.

TV Tower (Sausio 13-osios g. 10)

Make your way to the tallest building in Lithuania for a view like no other. The TV Tower cafe is located 165 metres above ground level and rotates 360 degrees every hour. So you can see the modern side of Vilnius in its entirety without moving a muscle. The view is exquisite, no matter the time of the day, and once the sun sets you’re in for a wonderful panorama filled with city lights. We recommend visit this place for Dinner in the clouds!

Swedbank Terrace (Konstitucijos pr. 20a)

Swedbank, located next to the Radisson Blu Hotel Lietuva, has a terrace that’s open to the public. It overlooks the meadow by the White Bridge and the banks of the Neris River. It’s especially worth visiting in spring, when 200 Japanese Sakura trees burst into bloom in the nearby Chiune Sugihara Sakura Park. The terrace offers comfortable seating and a small picnic area, which is a favorite spot for young people and office workers from the surrounding area, both at lunchtime and in the evenings.

Pavilniai regional park (Belmonto g.)

The Pūčkorių exposure is a unique geological monument, the highest and the most impressive exposure in Lithuania. Its height exceeds 65 meters. It provides a spectacular views across the Pavilniai Regional park and the valley of the Vilnia River. Especially beautiful on spring or autumn, when the colors are the most bright.
